Our organization has a wide range of projects that are designed to make a significant impact on the communities we serve. We have contributed funds towards various initiatives, such as
- The salt-Folic Acid project in Andhra Pradesh
- The Vietnam micronutrient study
- The Foundation for International Education in Neurosurgery.
At HNI, we believe that collaboration is key to achieving our goals, and we work closely with other organizations that share our vision. We are proud to partner with GAPSBIF and G4 Alliance and actively involved in passing the World Health Assembly, Geneva resolution for FA standards globally.
- Using prior funds, we are currently developing several programs that aim to prevent and address head injuries, spina bifida, and other neurological conditions.
- Our efforts include promoting helmet use, providing education and travel opportunities for residents, and collaborating with nurses to develop guidelines for neurotrauma nursing.
- We are working with the Rotary and Lions Clubs to raise awareness and prevent spina bifida and head injuries through various programs.
- we are workng with AIIMS to modify minimum daily requirements to ensure that everyone has access to this essential nutrient.

Our Activities at a Glance
Presentation on Fortified Salt Study – IFSBH 2024
Our team proudly presented our research on the Fortified Salt with Folic Acid study at the 30th International Conference on Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus. The event was held at the AVANTE Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 24th to 26th October 2024, providing an excellent platform to showcase our work and engage with global experts in the field.
NeuroTrauma 2024, Cambridge, UK
We attended and presented our papers at NeuroTrauma 2024, held in Cambridge, UK, from 2nd to 5th September 2024, showcasing our research and engaging with global experts in the field of neurotrauma.
Awareness Campaigns for Spina Bifida Prevention
We organized various programs to raise awareness about the prevention of Spina Bifida. These initiatives focused on educating communities, especially women of reproductive age, about the importance of folic acid and its role in preventing neural tube defects.
Folic Acid Salt Study
As part of our project to prevent Spina Bifida, we selected eight villages in Andhra Pradesh, India, to distribute fortified salt enriched with folic acid. The initiative aimed to improve folate levels among the villagers. Before and after the distribution, we tested their folate levels, and the results showed significant positive benefits, highlighting the potential impact of fortified salt in enhancing community health.
One-Day Seminar on Spina Bifida
A one-day seminar on Spina Bifida was held on 10th August 2022 at the AU Convention Hall, Beach Road, Visakhapatnam. The event saw active participation from medical college students and featured knowledgeable and eminent speakers from the medical field and NGO organizations, fostering meaningful discussions on Spina Bifida awareness and prevention.
Head Injury Awareness Walkathon
As part of Neurotrauma 2022, a head injury awareness walkathon was organized, drawing participation from over 400 individuals. The walk began at RK Beach, creating a vibrant and impactful event. During the walk, participants actively engaged with beachgoers, educating them about the importance of helmet usage and head injury prevention, fostering a community committed to road safety and well-being.
Free Helmet Distribution for Pillion Riders
As part of our road safety initiative, we distributed free helmets to promote helmet usage among pillion riders, emphasizing the importance of head injury prevention and fostering a culture of safety on the roads.

Head Injury Prevention program
As part of our ongoing head injury prevention program, we have been consistently working over an extended period to create awareness and drive change. Our efforts include organizing various programs at schools, colleges, and community levels to educate people about road safety. Additionally, we collaborate with policymakers, the Road Transport Department, and traffic police to advocate for improved helmet usage and implement effective measures to prevent head injuries.
